Digital Printing onto Jacquard Designs

I decided to try printing directly onto jacquard designs with the Mimaki printer.

My designs were woven with white polyester, to allow the disperse dye to take to the material more easily.

Woven Jacquards For Degree Show

For my exhibition I decided to choose a few of my jacquard samples which could be re-woven so that I had larger samples of them to display.

Lazertran on ceramics

I decided to try putting my designs onto a collection of teapots, cups and plates. To do this I used Lazertran. I printed my images onto the paper then soaked it in water to allow it to be transferred to my pots.

I intend to use some of my cups and saucers in my exhibition.

Foam Tea Pots and Cups

For my exhibition, I cut out shapes of tea pots and cups out of foam board, by using a laser cutter.

Second Hand Woven Samples

For my second warp, I decided to add more colour by using stripes. However, I still continued using strips of floral fabrics to weave with.

Small Sketchbook

I used some of the fabrics and patterned paper which I had collected and combined them with images of pots to create new designs.

Powerpoint Presentation

Half way through our final project we had to prepare a presentation about our work, to allow to us to recieve feedback and new ideas for our project.

Trip to Paris

At the end of February I went on a trip to Paris to visit Premier Vision.

Whilst in Paris I visited a couple of flea markets, where I was able to take lots of photographs of some of the chintz on the markets and look for some vintage fabrics.

I also used the opportunity to carry out market research in some of the shops in Paris.
Patterned Paper

I carried on collecting different patterned papers so that I could try and incorporate them in with my drawings. I also bought some dolls house wallpaper as it used tiny repeats of flowers which matched in well with my chintz ceramics.
